When it came to paid media on Meta, however, standing out in a crowded feed—while maintaining both creative quality and scale—required a new approach. That’s where Genus AI came in.
About the Brand
Founded in 2011, Chubbies Shorts is on a mission to bring fun, freedom, and weekend vibes to men’s wardrobes everywhere. Known for their iconic short shorts, punchy product descriptions, and unapologetic embrace of leisure, Chubbies quickly built a loyal following—and later joined the Solo Brands portfolio.
Today, Chubbies offers a full line of apparel and accessories, including swim trunks, polos, lounge gear, and outerwear—all while staying true to their “Friday at 5pm” energy.
But with scale came complexity. Managing creative across thousands of SKUs, fluctuating promotions, and ever-evolving audience expectations became increasingly difficult using static assets or standard dynamic product ads (DPAs). That’s when the team turned to Genus AI.
The Challenge
As Chubbies continued to expand its product catalog and enter new geographies, its performance marketing team faced a familiar set of challenges:
Limited Control over DPA Creative: Meta’s native catalog templates didn’t offer the flexibility needed to express Chubbies’ brand personality. The creative felt templated, and the team had little visibility into how individual products and layouts were being served.

AI-Driven Image Detection
Using Genus AI’s proprietary image classification model, the team could tag and control which types of product imagery—on-model, flat lay, lifestyle—would appear in which template slots. This let them automate visual storytelling that looked handcrafted but scaled effortlessly.

Chubbies deployed multi-image collage templates for carousels, showcasing multiple SKUs in a single frame or combining different product angles for a richer shopping experience—all pulled automatically from their catalog.
